Several local media outlets are reporting that construction equipment giant Komatsu is planning to build a large facility for sales and service operations in Mesa, Arizona, USA.
According to documents filed with the City of Mesa, the facility will be built on the Mesa Ellsworth Business Park site near the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport, with a building area of approximately 22,000 square meters. The majority of the space will be devoted to major welding and machining areas, with a warehouse of approximately 4,600 m2, a small equipment plant of similar size, and over 2,300 m2 of office space also planned. The space will be used primarily for repair and maintenance of mining equipment in Arizona and New Mexico, the company said.
Mesa Ellsworth Business Park is a business park with a site area of approximately 930,000 m2 operated by a local company called Sunbelt Investment Holdings (SIHI). Komatsu is reportedly planning to purchase approximately 100,000 m2 of land for development from SIHI.
Komatsu currently operates 34 production sites and 22 sales offices in the United States. In addition, Komatsu also owns "Parts Centers" for parts supply and "Reman Rebuild Centers" for repair and resale of used components such as engines.
