On March 4, 2025, Keysight Technology, a leading U.S. electronic instrumentation company, announced that it has collaborated with Samsung Electronics and NVIDIA to develop an AI model for Samsung Electronics' 5G-Advanced and 6G technologies. This AI model will enable improved RAN performance and throughput, increased system capacity, and reduced power consumption, and will be integrated into Samsung Electronics' vRAN software solution.
Traditional RANs face challenges such as limited throughput and high latency, especially in 5G deployments where uplink performance is critical; AI modeling enables accurate channel estimation, optimized resource allocation, and reduced power consumption, improving network efficiency and user experience. In fact, lab tests have shown that utilizing AI models for channel estimation can improve cell edge throughput by 30%.
Soma Velayutham, NVIDIA's VP of Telecom, said, "With the power of AI, the wireless signal processing pipeline can become more flexible and deliver significant improvements in performance and efficiency," adding, "The collaboration between Samsung Electronics, NVIDIA and Keysight on AI-for-RAN innovation is an The collaboration between Samsung Electronics, NVIDIA, and Keysight is an important step toward smarter and more reliable AI-native wireless networks," he commented.
This technology was on display at the Keysight booth at MWC 2025.
