On March 17, 2025, research firm Juniper Research published its latest report on the global private network market, Global Private Cellular Networks: 2025-2030. In the report, the market size is estimated at $5.7 billion in 2025 and is expected to more than double to $12.2 billion by 2028.

According to the report, approximately 3,000 new private networks are expected to be deployed worldwide over the next two years, surpassing the 2,500 networks deployed over the past four years. Behind the increased deployment is the rise of Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), which is less expensive to deploy and more scalable. Companies also benefit from the fact that NaaS allows them to manage network operating costs more efficiently by leasing a portion of the network equipment, according to the report.

On the other hand, the size of the private 5G market among the private network markets is still expected to be less than half of the total market size of $5.6 billion (about 830 billion yen) in 2028. Factors contributing to the continued growth of the private 4G market even as private 5G is becoming more widespread include its low operating costs and its sufficiency as a connectivity service for markets such as manufacturing and logistics.

Michelle Joynson, author of the study, commented, "As the market grows, vendors must offer flexible business models such as NaaS to attract private network users who are willing to make large investments," and that "this will also allow vendors to expand their private 5G deployments as it is easier for companies to maintain network capital This will also allow vendors to expand their private 5G deployments, as companies will be better able to maintain their network capital and operating costs.
