The NFL's Buffalo Bills announced on May 12, 2025, that they will welcome U.S. telecommunications giant Verizon as their official 5G partner at their new home, Highmark Stadium, scheduled to open in 2026. Verizon is also the founding partner of the new stadium. The company will own the neutrally hosted Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and provide cutting-edge technology and wireless solutions to support the fans' connected experience.
With this contract, Verizon deploys a 5G infrastructure that supports various carriers for visitors and a private 5G network for business use. The former will support the C-band (3.7G-4.2GHz band) and millimeter wave, providing a comfortable communication environment that covers everything from inside stadiums to parking lots. The private 5G network, on the other hand, will segment traffic (i.e., separate communications for each application) and be used for inter-coach communications, POS systems, ticket sales systems, and other applications. The company will also provide temporary Wi-Fi access points during stadium construction.
