Viavi Solutions, a U.S. company that provides network testing, monitoring, and assurance solutions, announced on June 10 the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hanyang University* in Korea for AI-RAN, 5G and 6G research. will be one of Viavi's "6G Forward" academic partners.
The center of cooperation will be the Beyond-G Global Innovation Center at Hanyang University. The center has been selected as a research center in the field of next-generation telecommunications under the Korean government's Global Innovation Research Center (IRC) support project in 2024, and is receiving more than 5 billion won (approximately 530 million yen) in annual support for up to 10 years.
Viavi will provide the center with a NITRO Wireless test suite, a 6G test bed, and network digital twin technology. This will allow researchers and students at Hanyang University to conduct practical research in a state-of-the-art testing environment.
Sunwoo Kim, director of the Beyond-G Global Innovation Center, said the partnership "combines Viavi's global expertise with our academic innovation" and will "lay the foundation for high-impact research in 6G and AI-RAN.
