NTT held the NTT R&D FORUM 2025 "IOWN∴Quantum Leap" for five days from November 19 to 21 and November 25 and 26, 2025. The key message of the event was "Quantum Leap," meaning a quantum leap forward in 2025, the 100th anniversary of the birth of quantum science. The lectures and exhibits showed what kind of technologies and future awaits us when AI and quantum computers are fused with IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network), an optical network, as one axis. The Musashino Research and Development Center, which served as the venue for the event, attracted many visitors, including prominent figures from various fields, and provided an opportunity to experience the current state of research and technology that will be indispensable to society in the future. In this article, we report in the form of a photo report on the technical exhibits, which included IOWN, optical quantum computers, digital twins, mobility, energy watt-bit linkage, and much more.

NTT R&D FORUM 2025
IOWN x Smart Factory--Cloud integration of PLC and visual inspection AI to reduce man-hours for equipment maintenance management and unify inspection quality IOWN x Smart Factory--Field demonstration of industrial robot control by connecting a data center and factory 300 km apart with a commercial IOWN APN IOWN x Video Production DX--IOWN APN connects video rendering server in virtual production studio to remote GPU for real-time remote processing IOWN × Video Production DX -- Background video is generated by a remote GPU for the person in front, and is transmitted via API for compositing. Dynamic Watt-Bit Linkage -- Advanced integration of power (watts) and information communication (bits) by, for example, moving workloads between multiple data centers connected by APNs. Dynamic Watt-Bit Linkage--Collaboration of forecasting, optimization, control, and unified management technologies to achieve watt-bit linkage Photoelectric Fusion Devices--Consolidation of Photoelectric Conversion Devices (PECs) to achieve miniaturization and low power consumption Creating a sense of connectedness through vibro-tactile transmission -- "Sekai ga Kikoeru Denwa". Demonstration of sounds of festivals, sounds in the city, and various sounds related to Ojiya City. Fostering a sense of connectedness through vibro-tactile transmission -- "physical online visitation system" that can transmit heartbeats, etc., to external parents of a newborn baby in the NICU. Fostering a sense of connectedness through vibro-tactile transmission -- vibro-tactile transmission to and from remote locations was demonstrated at the Osaka-Kansai Expo
