Explore how Utility 3.0 (fusion of energy x digital x mobility to realize human-centered industrial revolution), which TEPCO Power Grid is rapidly implementing in society, can be updated with 5G/millimeter wave/6G

Posted on 2024/03/01

Tokyo Electric Power Grid Corporation (TEPCO) is promoting the development of various new businesses centered on its power transmission and distribution network that achieves the world's highest level of quality and lowest cost. Among them, Mr. Hiroshi Okamoto (Executive Vice President and Executive Officer, TEPCO Power Grid) is the CTO of TEPCO Power Grid, which is promoting "Utility 3.0: Fusion of Energy, Digital, and Mobility for Realization of Human-Centered Industrial Revolution". This is a "Machine-leaning Energy System Holistic (MESH)," which refers to the homeostasis of the human body, i.e., the complementary relationship between nerves and blood vessels, and is a complement to the information communication and power grid, or more specifically, a grid edge system that incorporates an Energy Management System (EMS). More specifically, MESH (Machine-leaning Energy System Holistic) is a concept that refers to the complementary relationship between information communication and the electric power grid, or MESH (Machine-leaning Energy System Holistic). The project also includes global linkage through optical fiber, utilization of offshore energy, and farm-based solar power generation based on carbon cycle.

In this "5GMF Millimeter Wave Dissemination Promotion Workshop/Japan's Industrial Technology Frontline Vol. 4," Hiroshi Okamoto and Masahiro Tanaka of the company's Business Development Office and Corporate Planning Office (in charge of alliances) will join Mr. Okamoto to explore how "Utility 3.0" could be updated for 5G, millimeter wave and 6G.
